Original Paintings by Beata Wiktorowska
Insanity of Perspective - in this collection, the artist refers to cognitive distortions, i.e. errors in thinking.
We've all fallen into the trap of cognitive distortions at some point. We happen to create a negative vision of the future, read others' minds, generalize or abuse imperatives. A characteristic feature of a person suffering from depression is a change in self-perception and a negative self-image. Negative thoughts distort your self-image and attitude towards the future. The presence of cognitive distortions in thinking results in the perception of reality in a biased, falsified and often negative way. They can be said to convince the person's mind that what he sees is real when in fact it is not. They are imprecise to say the least and tend to reinforce negative thoughts and feelings. As a result, a person who often perceives the world based on cognitive distortions (without realizing it) can have a very negative view of the world, other people and himself. It is as if we are wearing glasses that distort the real picture - often they exaggerate some things and diminish others. They cause us to ignore the positive and focus on the negative. They are misleading us. The important thing is that the glasses can always be removed. And finally see the world in positive, colourful and optimistic colours, which the artist tried to show in her paintings.
For this collection, the artist was inspired by the building Casa Milà popularly known as La Pedrera.
